Sarah and Dan Grow Up - Lets Get House Hunting...

So as promised here is the second instalment to our house hunt... I left off last time with what we'd done with our mortgage and I had spoken about saving up for that all important deposit, so now we're on to my favourite bit, actually looking around people's houses - queue tireless hours spent crawling over Rightmove and Zoopla! As I said before we're looking for a house that isn't in too great of a shape, a 'fixer-upper'. The market seems to have a few floating around, so we didn't think it'd be too hard to find what we're looking for. We're after a minimum of two beds, preferably three, and we need a large kitchen/dinner or a separate dinning room as we have the biggest table in the world, which is very pretty and we want to keep it. We're not too fussed whether it's a semi, end terraced or mid terraced. We'd also like an off-road parking spot and a nice garden but we're willing to compromise on these... and I feel ...

Sarah and Dan Grow Up - The Property Adventure Begins...

Hey everyone, it's been a while! Thought it was about time I got back into the blogging and with something new to blog about too I definitely had to do it! Me and my better half (ha! 😘) are about to take our first steps onto the property ladder, or at least we're trying to- there seem to be hundreds of sites out there to tell you how they think you should do it and lots of what people are calling 'handy tips' and 'hints', and there are even guides on how to do property developing... and well I'm sure a fair bit is useful, I'm also sure a fair bit is utter crap too, because if it was that easy wouldn't everyone be doing it?  So I figured why don't I write a blog of our experiences from start to finish and actually be honest about things we might be doing or have done wrong and hopefully right too, and you can all laugh at me as I inevitably take a sledgehammer to a load-bearing wall or when we price something up unrealistically ...

Fresh Start

I’ve decided its time for a new challenge… and just to make things a little bit harder I thought why not try two at once, something I’m sure I’ll regret later, however one is pretty small really. The first one is to create a new business! And the second… well that’s not so exciting, I’m going to participate in the 100 Happy Days Challenge. I’ve decided my life isn't heading in the right direction and its time to sort it out. I’m fed up of restrictions, fed up of having to answer to other people, and being dictated to or put down. It’s time to stand on my own two feet and get back on track with what I spent £24,000 on getting a bachelors degree for! My boyfriend of 8 years left university a year after me and is currently running two thriving businesses and I’m stuck on not much more than minimum wage not being able to fully be myself and explore my creativity in the way I want to and it’s time that changes. I’ve struggled with depression and an anxiety disorder for...

Fashion Shoot: Behind The Scenes

Hey! So as you all know by now I have a full time job as a Fashion Stylist, so this week I thought I'd take you behind the scenes to see what we get up to and what its like as a stylist. It's not always as glamorous as you think, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun! This week we wanted a very specific set, which would cost a fortune to have made and as we have a strict budget we decided to build it ourselves!  It may have been cardboard and it might not be that neat but just you wait till we get it in photoshop! :) besides we had great fun doing it!!! Here is Roy our grumpy photographer busy cutting out... And he's me having a bit of fun with the already cut out trees. Here's my clothes rail ready for the shoot, lots of gorgeous outfits! Can you spot everything you like? All my jewellery ready to go! Then it was time to get our beautiful model from Nemesis Model Agency Manchester Sarah Bannister ready. For the ma...

Dressing The Corrie Girls!

Hey everyone! I know it been while, but I'm trying to get back into it... the full-time stylist and blogger job has been getting in the way of my own blog, but now I've found the balance and I'm back! YAY! I've been wanting to show you all this for a while now, but just haven't found the time. My new job as a stylist has given me the chance to dress some of the Coronation Street girls! What's Coronation Street some of you may ask? It's a British soap that's on TV at prime time for 3 nights a week. Anyway I've sent out clothes for them to wear on screen and off screen and here's some of the first images... The first one is Katie McGlynn, also seen on Waterloo Road a long with a variety of other shows... For Katie I sent the stunning Tuxedo Dress from Missy Empire which unfortunately is now out of stock and won't be returning :( The second on screen beauty, is a fairly new character who came into the soap as Tina...

Missy Empire: Selfie Stick Shenanigans

A few days ago my boss told me we were going to get Selfie Sticks in on a trial... I'm not really one for the selfie trend so I was a little bit cautious over getting them in. Well they arrived today complete with a bluetooth remote and I've not put it down all day!  Wondering what a selfie stick is? It's a extendable stick/monopod that you can attach to your mobile phone, which enables you to take selfie's from wider angles allowing to get a whole group of friends in to! :) We were asked to test it and take some promo silly shots with it, and its been the funniest day of work so far! Here's a few from inside work...  We may have switched into dresses from work for the promo shots... My dress you can see here:  Bloom Black Floral Skater Dress Jess's dress is here:  Trixy Aztec Swing Dress And my biker jacket is part of coming soon Autumn/Winter collection!  Oh and yes my leg is wrapped up in a leg splint, I have a dodgy knee thanks ...

First Weeks at Missy Empire

So I recently started as the Fashion Stylist and Social Media Executive for Missy Empire, I'm not going to lie it's hard work but still a lot of fun. I get the chance to be creative and work with fashion and that's just amazing to me! As Fashion Stylist I style up photo shoots and flat outfits, I also go out with my boss looking for new designs in clothes, shoes and accessories to buy in. As Social Media Executive I am in charge of our social media and blog to make sure our name gets out there and is well represented. I obviously like the Fashion Styling side more but it is quite fun doing flash giveaways and watching as twitter, (or which ever social media platform it is) goes bonkers over something you've just created!  Here's some images of shoots I've over the last few weeks. This is my absolute favourite image to come out of our first shoot! We had the great opportunity to work with international model Amy Neville, who over the last week I b...

15 Shopper Stresses

We all love to shop and let's face it there's nothing better than a bit of retail therapy after a long hard week at work, or just because you feel like it; but have you ever come away from shops more stressed then before you went? Well I have and here's 15 things that drives some of us shoppers mad, let's see if you can relate to them... 1. People who insist on looking through the same small rack as you. We're sorry, is there not enough racks in the store? There isn't enough room for two people to look through this at the same time, wait your turn and stop pushing us out the way! 2. People who snatch. Hey look, we had it first! Learn some manners and stop being rude, you wouldn't like it if we did it to you, so don't do it to me! 3. Aisles that are too narrow. People do eat burgers you know. We want to walk down an aisle and not take half of it with us or have it tangled around our handbags. 4. Overloade...

Working at COSMOPOLITAN: Week 3

I can't believe I've finished my third week at COSMO, it is going so quickly and I'm loving every minute, I am going to be so sad to leave :(. I've learnt so much more this week as well, I'd go as far as saying this is the best work experience I've had so far! I think I've quite possibly found my place where I can fit into the industry. I've been trusted twice this week to man the office on my own as the other ladies were all on shoots, and I've been told I did a really good job! And I even got to pick out the high street version of the outfit we have on the front cover which was really cool. I'll post a picture when it comes out but unfortunately I can't say anything now.  DAY 1 What I wore:  Dress: £35, River Island, belt: £7, Republic, necklace: £8.99, Accessorise, pumps: £4, Primark, tights: (more to come on these later), pink beaded bracelet: £4, New Look, other bracelets: presents. Makeup is all Clinque. Favouri...
